GLORIA, ORIENTAL MINDORO — A spectacular display of faith, culture, and community cooperation took center stage last Sunday, May 31, 2026, as the Municipality of Gloria celebrated its grand Santa Cruzan sa Bayan ng Gloria and Flores de Mayo.

Ensuring the safety and orderliness of the vibrant festivities, the Gloria Municipal Police Station (MPS) deployed its personnel to provide strict security and traffic assistance throughout the event. The local police force was heavily supported by the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) and dedicated civic volunteers, including members of the KAAKIBAT CIVICOM.

The highlight of the activity was the grand parade, which featured beautifully crafted booths and floats representing the 27 barangays of the municipality. The streets were filled with excitement as the stunning Reynas (Queens) from each barangay showcased their elegance, drawing crowds of locals and visitors alike.

The procession commenced in front of the Gloria Municipal Hall, winding its way through the town proper before culminating at the Municipal Gymnasium.

Upon arriving at the gymnasium, the spiritual heart of the celebration took place with a Holy Mass presided over by Reverend Father Joseph M. Bonongaling. The religious ceremony was immediately followed by a traditional flower offering to the queens by the sagalas, and an elegant Cotillion dance performance that captivated the audience.

The municipal government’s top officials, led by Honorable Mayor Teresita M. Ong and Vice Mayor Wilfredo S. Condesa, spearheaded the program, showing their full support for the preservation of the town’s rich cultural and religious traditions.

Thanks to the collaborative efforts of the Gloria MPS, the MDRRMO, and volunteer groups, the heavy influx of pedestrians and vehicles was managed flawlessly. No untoward incidents were reported during the procession and the ensuing activities.

The festive program concluded with a socialization event, allowing community members and participants to celebrate together. Organizers and local officials hailed the 2026 Santa Cruzan as a resounding success, made possible by the unwavering dedication of the participants and the vigilance of the town’s peacekeepers.
